Evolution of artillery fire control: what the updated Belarusian “Lector” is capable of
01.06.2026
The upgraded portable automated artillery fire control system called Lector produced by OJSC “AGAT-Control Systems” – Managing Company of “Geoinformation Control Systems” Holding has been brought into service of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
Compared to the basic modification of the system, the upgraded Lector has become truly versatile and brings the combat use of artillery to a qualitatively new level, responding to the challenges of modern combined-forces combat.
The complex ensures a closed-loop cycle of automation starting with reconnaissance and ending with fire killing. It enables effectively control the preparation and carrying out of combat actions of artillery subunits at any climatic conditions, at any time of the day, both in flat and mountainous areas. The system is fully autonomous.
What is “Lector” is capable of?
· Data collection and transmission: automatic collection, display, storage and transmission of data from reconnaissance, firing, attached and supported assets in automatic mode.
· Digital reconnaissance and target designation: receiving data from diverse means of reconnaissance and surveillance, including video images from UAVs, determining the coordinates of targets with transmission to each gun (firing means).
· Smart calculations: automated solution of problems of topogeodetic, meteorological and ballistic training, calculation of calculated installations and corrections at each workplace.
· Maneuver planning: simulation of the march, advance, deployment and movement of forces, as well as operational control of movement along the route.
· All purpose communications system: transmission of commands and signals via the satellite, HF, VHF, and wired links, as well as through DMR, Wi-Fi, and 4G networks. Full integration with higher-level automated control systems and combined arms units has been ensured.
